Yoga Pants or Avulsion

Since dedicating my Mondays to #MedTermMonday I’ve been able to regularly add new words to my medical term vocabulary. AND, more importantly, better commit them to memory because I have stories associated with them!

[ PRE-PT IDEA ] Join in on #MedTermMonday on social media! Or start journaling the terms in a notebook or even in your phone Notes. The important thing is to keep being exposed to the information & terms more often.

medical term :: avulsion

Definition: the tearing away of a structure or part either accidentally or surgically —Medical Dictionary

I came across this term reading a summary of the research article I mentioned in Quinoa + Duck Legs, 5-Points Friday >>>here.

example: avulsion fracture
Definition:¬†An avulsion fracture occurs when a tendon or ligament that is attached to the bone pulls a piece of the fractured bone off. —Medical News Today

“Treatment of an avulsion fracture typically includes resting and icing the affected area, followed by controlled exercises that help restore range of motion, improve muscle strength and promote bone healing. Most avulsion fractures heal very well without surgical intervention.” —Mayo Clinic

^^Very much a #GetPT1st moment <3

Women experience three-quarters of all hip fractures. Staying active across the lifespan can reduce your risk of fractures, falls, and osteoporosis! #GetPT1st

My boyfriend is helping me remember the term ~avulsion.~

Basically he was going on about how many pairs of yoga pants I have and how 8 pairs is too many. ( I know, I know. He doesn’t get it. ) Naturally, I told him I’d give him an avulsion fracture if he tried to make me get rid of any more yoga pants. What can I say, I’m dedicated to my yoga pants & my med terms ūüėČ

do you write a daily to-do list? when do you write it? the night before? or in the morning?

see ya Friday, or on snap!

  1. I don’t write a daily to-do list. I use a list method more for work. I use a combination of handwritten bullets / priorities, handwritten in a notebook, and also my Outlook calendar. It really helps with my time management at work and prioritizing in general!

    1. So interesting to hear about your personal time management methods, Laura Beth! I don’t have a consistent method yet so I’m trying different ways right now – lists, planner, google calendar.. lol work in progress :))
