splurge I’m considering —
I am in need of new eye glasses. Nice ones!
The ones I have now are grandma glasses and never see the light of day. I’ve needed some for a while now, but every time I start trying some on, I realize that the price tag is the price for only the frame. I still have to pay for the lenses?! Lol bye.
I decided to do the Warby Parker Home try on.
Basically you go to their website, choose 5 pairs you like, and they get sent to you for free – I didn’t even have to pay shipping. It’s also free shipping to send them back after trying them on. Ultimately, I decided to try this route because the glasses will only cost $95 (including the lenses!).
I’ll have to update you guys when I get the glasses, and if I end up committing to one. BTW I’m not getting anything out of this from Warby Parker – no discount/special offer/whatever – I just want to let you guys know how it works out for me. (p.s. these photos are from the Warby Parker website. I’ll take my own when they arrive!)
physical therapy memorable moment —
I have been volunteering at the same clinic since February now, which means I’ve almost been there for 3 months! I love the idea of spending more time than usual at a PT clinic because now I’ve gotten to see patients arrive at the clinic on their first day and watch them progress until they are discharged.
I’ve also seen a patient come in because he was scheduled to have a knee replacement, so he was seeing a physical therapist for Prehabilitation before surgery.
The research shows that if a patient works on prehab strengthening exercises before a knee-replacement surgery, then they will be better off after the surgery.
It was pretty cool getting to see the beginning and end of this patient’s treatment in the clinic. He was always in pain walking around and doing exercises.
Then, I got to see him after his knee replacement surgery, and he was in pain doing certain movements with his leg, but it was because of the scar from surgery – not the actual knee. He said, “It’s so nice not to feel pain in my knee anymore. It’s been years since I’ve had no pain in my knee.”

research that’s inspiring me —
Now let’s stay in the knee-replacement lane, but branch out a bit.
I know we just talked about a successful knee-replacement surgery, but this article is about an alternative to that surgery.
These doctors are using the person’s own stem cells from their body and injecting them back into their knee where they are somehow allowing the knee to grow more cartilage to heal & repair itself.
The researchers are from the world-famous Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine.

[FUN FACT] This research is being done back in my hometown: Pensascola, FL. The Andrews Institute is a famous facility for not only research and treatment, but also high performance sports training too! Also, if you’re planning a visit to Pensacola, let me know and I will direct you to some local favs. It’s not a big city, so it’s the perfect beach getaway.
